WELCOME!!

Hi everyone and welcome to our blog! Sam and I created this page to share our interests, ideas and the activities we enjoy (both together and apart) while adding a splash of creativity. As we faced the daily challenges of raising our very expressive and dance-crazed baby boy, Liam, we found it difficult to dedicate time to US...We decided to start this blog with the intent of documenting our efforts as we endeavor to create one design project a month as a couple. This will be an interesting process that we hope you can laugh at and critique, but above all, ENJOY! Please don't hesitate to leave comments and tell us what you think! We look forward to taking this fun and exciting journey with you! - Alby & Sam :-)

Artsy Fartsy Cold Spring

Last weekend Sam and I visited Cold Spring, a nice Hudson River waterfront town in Putnam County. We visit often since Sam's parents live nearby - he's also obsessed with a retail store by the name of Hudson Valley Outfitters.  Main Street, which leads you to a lovely waterfront park, stretches for several blocks - all of which have beautiful architecture, great restaurants/cafes and awesome art galleries and antique shops.  Below are a few photos from our visit. I think they do an adequate job of capturing the essence of Cold Spring.

The entrance to Archipelago at Home - one of my favorite boutiques along Main Street

Did I mention there are several baby/children themed shops? This one had a nice collection of the UglyDoll - made famous by the Obama girls. Liam received one as a gift for his birthday and I find them so darn cute - why the "ugly" title? I guess it is catchy!

A photo that requires no caption - every little girl has owned one of these....I remember decorating my doll with markers, glitter and mom's make-up.

"I want this bike!!" was the first thing I said when my eyes caught this beauty just chillin outside of this antique shop.  Two years ago Sam purchased a bike very similar to this one for me, took it apart, spray painted it that same exact 50's mint green, and put it back together. A few months later, I gave it away for free. Reason being - it was single speed and I just couldn't manage the uphill battles - what's a girl to do? Well, stay away from cruiser bikes. I left this one for someone else to enjoy.

I just love vegetated facades (ivy growth) - although as an architect in training, I know they are nothing but trouble...and the honeycomb slate roof shingles - fabulous!

KEEP PUTNAM BEAUTIFUL!!
Thanks for reading! - Alby
